Winter Creative Challenge: Whimsy & Frost
The snow falls, and all creatures are slumbering or stirring. (A prompt suggestion)
Winter can be both a beautiful time of merry meant, snowballs and hot cocoa. The quiet that cleans the world, preparing it for spring when the falling snow finishes its whispering chant of magic.

However, for others it can be a place of hardship where darkness creeps with long shadows and one wonders about hunger or more. People disappear in the snow covered forests or hear the call of familiar only to find a trap waiting.

So my prompt ideas are creatures both whimsical and frightful of the winter.
(Examples)
Whimsical
Snow shoe: A rabbit formed from fallen snow, twigs and old leaves that stick out at odd angles. It hops about, acting as most rabbits do. However, it is said to herald the beginning of a prosperous winter. Meaning that those who gather ice for trade often look for one or if one is spotted spread the word. Hoping this will spread its good energy amongst the group.
Frightful
The glimmer: no one knows what exactly this is, whether it be a beast or an event is uncertain. What many know is that all it leaves behind is a flash of brilliant light that reflects off the falling snow, making it shine like diamonds. The glimmer has been reported more than once in a small town. Always during snow storms, it leaves behind homes cold and empty. With food still on the stove cooking or items strew about as if dropped with excitement before everyone gathered outside only to not return. Footprints are often discovered that stop at a random spot mid-step.
What Lurks in the Blizzard?
Name the creature.
Is it friend or foe?
Where does it hide?

I'm still very new to Substack. I did link you in my post, but I wasn't sure where to put the link. I also tag you in a note of the post I wrote for the Winter Creative Challenge. My post is titled "Shimmering Footsteps in the Snow"
